Farmers Savings Bank
In the year 1892, a group of prominent Keota businessmen and local
farmers felt there was a need for another bank to serve Keota and
the surrounding community. A bank to be a true representative for
their clients . . . understanding of their needs, sympathetic and
fair. Thus it was that the founders initiated “The Farmers
Savings Bank” with a capital of $30,000.00 on May 24, 1893,
which is the date of the original Articles of Incorporation. A charter
was granted by the State of Iowa on July 26, 1893 and the Farmers
Savings Bank began business. There were 30 original stockholders
and a staff of two.
Over 100 years later, we still hold to that original purpose. Our
capital has grown- we now have over $8,000,000 – and our assets
have grown, representing the trust that our clients have placed
in us. Our staff has grown also- we now employ 15 full-time employees
and we offer a full range of deposit, lending and investment products,
but we still subscribe to the thought that our primary purpose is
to represent our clients, be understanding and above all be fair
and honest.
Our motto has become:
“ Serving the Keota Community
since 1893”
and that reflects our commitment to the Keota community
first and foremost.
Our recent facility expansion project is evident of
that commitment also. We now have the physical plant and the staff
to carry the high level of customer service forward into the 21st
century. Come see what we are about.
